Celebrate National Public Lands Day – September 27, 2025

National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands—a day to give back to the spaces that give us so much. These shared lands are home to America’s wild horses and burros, along with countless other wildlife species, and they depend on us to remain protected and thriving.

This year, let’s celebrate by honoring the wild families who call our public lands home:

  • 🌱 Take part in a cleanup or restoration project on your favorite trail or park and dedicate your efforts to the mustangs and burros who roam these same kinds of lands out West.

  • 📸 Share a photo of your favorite public lands adventure (bonus if it includes a wild horse or burro!) using the hashtag #ForWildHorses.

  • 🐴 Sponsor a wild family band through The Cloud Foundation as a way to support their continued freedom on our public lands.

  • ✍️ Raise your voice—write a short note to your representatives in honor of National Public Lands Day, asking them to protect wild horses and burros where they belong.

Together, we can ensure these lands remain wild and free—for the horses, for the burros, and for all of us.

“Taiga” is a Pryor Mountain mare in Shoshone’s band. She and her band mates have come to the water catchment on Burnt Timber Rd.
