Sample letter to the committee

Your letter to the committee members will carry more weight if written in your own words, please use this as an example and speak out for our wild horses!

Dear Senator ___________

As a member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources I implore you to conduct a hearing on HR 249 to allow for input on this important legislation. The Bill would reinstate the protections written into the Wild Horse and Burro Act which were removed by Senator Conrad Burns when he inserted a last minute rider into the Appropriations Bill in 2004. Also of critical importance is including language in the Bill that would prevent BLM from destroying healthy wild horses. Senator Burns also struck this language when he inserted his deadly rider. As you know, BLM is exploring the killing of wild horses in their holding facilities, citing a budget crisis. This is a horribly cruel plan and Congress must stop them before it is too late. You are in a position to make a difference for thousands of America’s wild horses who have lost their freedom and their families, and now risk losing their lives due to the mismanagement of a dysfunctional Agency. It is no accident that BLM is again under investigation by the GAO regarding their management of the mustangs.
