Cloud's Herd is Threatened!

An Environmental Assessment by the Bureau of Land Management, the government agency charged with managing wild horses on public lands, is proposing that the Pryors Wild Horse Herd be drastically reduced, well below the population requirements to achieve and maintain genetic viability. 150 horses is considered the bare minimum to maintain a sustainable herd that can survive into the future. Even Cloud and his family run the risk of capture in a roundup proposed for this fall. Horses over 10 years of age who are rounded up will be sold at auction where they would likely be sent to slaughter.
